Spokane Companies Make Inc. 5000 List
Five businesses in the Spokane region made this year’s Inc. 5000 list of the country’s fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States.
Stay Alfred Vacation Rentals came in at #468, marking its first appearance on the list. The company had a three-year growth rate of 814%, and saw revenues of $13.1 million in 2015. They were also recognized as the No. 5 Top Travel and Hospitality company, and as No. 12 of Top Washington companies.
etaliz, on the list for the fifth year in a row, ranked #630. With a three-year growth rate of 614% and a 2015 revenue of $93.3 million, Inc. Magazine recognized etailz as No. 19 of Top Washington companies, in addition to the company making the Honor Roll for its fifth appearance on the list.
Professional Realty Services/HomeSmart Advisors came in at #806 with a three-year growth rate of 493%, and revenue of $5.3 million. This was the company’s second year on the list.
Zak Designs placed at #3,478 on the list, and was one of four Washington manufacturing companies recognized this year. This was the second time Inc. Magazine recognized the company, which saw a 92% growth rate over the past three years, with revenue of $95.6 million in 2015.
Strategic Hardware also made the list at #4,395, marking its third straight appearance. The IT services company had a growth rate of 59% over the past three years, and revenue of $6.9 million in 2015.

Municipal Excellence
The City of Spokane received the Association of Washington Cities 2016 Municipal Excellence Award in the category of Innovative Management. The awards recognize innovative projects that significantly improve the quality of life for citizens, establish partnerships, and build community support.
Local policies and investment strategies impact a city’s economic development potential. Spokane has done an excellent job targeting where to make public investments. These targeted investments allow for big impacts in certain geographic areas. More and more we are seeing the community get involved in these investments, from infrastructure to new business ventures.
Job Growth
The Spokane-Spokane Valley MSA jumped to #17 for 2016 for white collar job growth in the mid-sized city category. This is up 28 spots from #45 in 2015 and makes Spokane the highest ranked mid-sized city in WA state.
This is not only the largest high-wage segment of the economy, employing just under 20 million people at an average salary of $30 an hour, it’s also one the few high-wage sectors in which employment has expanded steadily since 2010, at more than 3% a year, adding nearly 3 million white-collar jobs.
