Comcast’s Spokane Center Recognized as Economic Development Recruitment of the Year

The Washington Economic Development Asssociation (WEDA) recognized Comcast’s Spokane Center of Excellence as the Economic Development Recruitment Project of the Year. The strong job creation was cited as a primary reason for the selection.

Comcast received their award at WEDA’s Winter Conference, March 22, 2017, in Olympia, Washington.

The Recruitment Process
“Project Arriba” first visited Spokane with site selectors from Jones Lang LaSalle in February 2014.  After a second visit, Comcast announced Spokane as one of three sites for new, state-of-the-art Centers of Excellence.

“Comcast chose the Spokane region for a variety of reasons, ranging from the amazing liveability of the area to its highly trained, tech-savvy workforce.  We’ve seen time and time again evidence of the  strong partnerships this community has between business, education and governments that make the Spokane area such a great place to grow your business,” said Ty Baker, Vice President of Customer Service Strategy and Operations.

“It turns out we were right. By every measurement, the people we’ve hired here in Liberty Lake are creating a best-in-class customer experience for Comcast customers through careful attention to their needs.”

Comcast opened temporarily in Spokane Valley, while their new building was constructed in Liberty Lake’s Meadowwood Technology Park.

Comcast continues to ramp to a planned 700 employees. Company benefits including full medical, complimentary cable service, tuition reimbursement and internal promotion.

Employees self-report 28% are military related (active, veterans, or spouses of) and 85% reside in the state of Washington.
