Kaiser Aluminum Invests $150M at Spokane Valley Facility
Kaiser Aluminum Corporation is making a $150 million capital investment at its Center for Excellence in rolling and heat treating in Spokane Valley. The equipment upgrades will increase manufacturing capacity and Kaiser’s competitiveness in the growing aerospace and general engineering products market.
Jack A. Hockema, President, CEO and Chairman states, “Looking forward, we expect continued growth…this project advances Trentwood’s position as a world class facility for quality and cost efficiency.”
The facility has been an important part of the community for seventy years. The plant is responsible for manufacturing aluminum rolled products which include heat treated sheet and plate for aerospace and high-strength and general engineering applications such as structural components for commercial airframes and vacuum chambers for silicon chips. In the past decade, the facility has experienced significant growth in production, driven largely by the growth in the commercial aerospace order backlog and increasing build rates.
Currently employing approximately 900 people working in shifts, the plant is nearly 60 acres under roof, located on a 515 acre site.
Kaiser’s investment and expansion will be highly beneficial for the aerospace, transportation and manufacturing sectors in the Spokane region.
