Spokane Metals LLC, a family-owned and -operated metal fabrication and manufacturing company currently based in Airway Heights, Wash., has announced that it will relocate its operations to Spokane Valley's northeast industrial area. The company has purchased land and will construct a 22,600-square-foot building on the northeast corner of Barker Road and Garland Avenue. It tentatively plans to move its operations in June 2020.
Spokane Metals manufactures structured steel, catwalks, gratings, stairs, landings, railings, sky walks and other metal products. The company does 90 percent of its business with general contractors in Eastern Washington. It employs about 19 workers and may hire a few additional employees after relocation.
Its parent company, BR Land Group LLC, purchased the seven acres at the new Spokane Valley site about two years ago. The Old Dominion Freight Line terminal at 4101 N. Barker is directly west of the site where the company is constructing the new building. The new structure is estimated to cost about $2.4 million and Halme Builders Inc. is the general contractor on the project.
