Distribution Space in High Demand

Developers in Spokane, Washington have added 4.5 million square feet of industrial space between October 2019 and October 2020, according to the Spokane-Kootenai Real Estate Research Committee's Spring 2021 Real Estate Report. West Spokane saw the largest square footage gain in the county, followed by Spokane Valley, which has nearly 2 million square feet of industrial space planned or underway, including a 1.6 million-square-foot Amazon distribution center. Marc Mowrer, director of commercial leasing for Leavitt Capital Co., says that Spokane's position in the state as a gateway to the rest of the country, along with its relatively cheap land and multiple modes of transportation nearby, have been the primary drivers of the industrial space boom.
